We are the worst possible people to vet our own resume as we lived that job history and we can only ever read our work subjectively. The hard-pressed HR person at the other end of your resumes journey will see just words on a page and maybe an embarrassing passport photo attached. All that person is thinking about is the risk attached to you: is it more of a risk to let you work for a competitor or is it more of a risk to have you working for them? Your resume will lead them towards one of those conclusions. But when we talk about functional resume samples many people make the mistake of thinking that their resume must be objective direct businesslike and devoid of personality. Nothing could be further from the truth.
This will let you see what you should emphasize and how to get yourself noticed in the crowd. So looking over samples online can be of good use to you. It can certainly let you see how to turn a so-so resume into a magnificent one that will stand out and get you the job you have been dreaming about. Online resume samples can and do provide people who have never created a resume an easy out by letting them copy word for word. The idea however is to get an inspiration on how to create one. Its important that the employer looks at your resume and not throw it in the trash. Using a sampled copy is bound to get your resume thrown into the "Not a chance" pile even if you are more than qualified. No doubt many people commonly use these samples making mistakes as frequent as this.

If their job requires customer service skills be sure you have that skill and list it on your resume. If you do not have a skill the employer is looking for then try to map the skills you do have to the one they desire. For example if the employer wants someone experienced in Microsoft Word and you have not used Word then think about what you have used. Maybe you have used Word Perfect or Open Office Writer. If so be sure to write this down! You can include it like this: Experienced in Open Office Writer (very similar to Microsoft Word). If you follow the good resume samples above you will do a much better job of showing how qualified you are. Remember this is the whole point of your resume: to get the employers attention and show them you are a great fit for their needs. If you do this you should be granted an interview.
